“They will send sometimes two, sometimes three or even four players on a play. They will bring a lot of pressure so we should be prepared for it. Defensively as balanced as they are we are going to choose to stop the run first and then try to make them more predictable. We've added a few wrinkles against Oak Grove. As far as conference championship we need to win this football game. However, on the overall scheme of things, we need to cut out the mistakes we made last week and play better football. I just want to see us make a big improvement over last week.”
“We got the nerves out of the way. Once we got settled down I thought we played well. Grain Valley hasn't settled down yet. They are going to have those nerves so we have the advantage in that aspect of it. You can't simulate what we just did in practice. It's impossible. A live scrimmage against another team is an amazing thing. This helped us a ton and I am glad we got to come down.”
“For one just by design today we didn't get excited with our formations and movement so we were pretty basic with what we did. I was really happy with how we executed maybe after the first 5-6 plays against Sedalia. Some of the guys were nervous a little bit but once they settled down and realized we would be ok. Eric (Douglas) is a heck of a player and Kolby (Hurt) had a nice couple of runs. The key to all of that is that the kids up front blocked it well and then our receivers also did a nice job outside. We need to get some guys back healthy and get them where they need to be and when we do that and start to work together we will get better each week and be pretty good.”
“As much energy as I thought we had a week ago we had that less amount of energy tonight. We just weren't focused on what we needed to do. We didn't block anybody all night long. We had coverage bust again. We just made a ton of errors. Either we are going to simplify what we are doing or we are going to have to change some personnel. It's going to be a long weekend for the coaching staff as we have some decisions to make.”
“We can step up and get better or we can continue to slide. At times we have showed a lot of promise and other times we seemed confused. I thought we were very physical with Oak Grove and then it seemed like we lost that with Pleasant Hill. Obviously we want to get back that intensity level we had with Oak Grove.”
“They are pretty young. The Patrick Haynes kid is probably the fastest kid in the conference so we will have to wrap him up. We have to be tremendous tacklers. We can't let the Haynes kid get out in the open. We need to make sure we read our keys properly and run to the football and make plays.”
